Higson's Farm is owned and operated by Ronald Higson Sr. and Nora (Tina) Higson.

Higson's Farm is a family owned and operated produce farm in Wiley Ford, WV. which is just a stones throw from Cumberland, Maryland.  Higson's was formally owned by Nora's father, it was then known as Kline's.  At that time the farm was primarily a dairy farm.  Ronnie and Tina took ownership of the farm in 1986 and since then it has evolved into the produce farm that we know and love today.  During the summer season Higson's produce can be purchased from the shed located right on the farm and from the local farmer's markets.

Higson's Farm operates seasonally.
During the growing season, the hours are:

                   Sunday: 8a.m. - 4p.m.
                   Monday through Friday: 8a.m. - 6p.m.
                   Saturday:  Closed

Higson's grow a wide variety of fruits and vegetables that are available to the public through spring, summer and even into fall.  The first vegetable to become available in early spring is asparagus.  At the end of May and into the beginning of June you can come to Higson's and pick your own fresh strawberries.  If you are not a picker, you can purchase the berries already picked.  Black raspberries closely follow the strawberries and candy onions are available at that time.  Higson's famous sweet corn is ready in time for your Independence Day celebrations.  Tomatoes, cantaloupe, peppers, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, lima beans, bird egg beans and green beans are plentiful through most of the summer.  Watermelon are also grown on the farm and are usually ready by the first of August.  When autumn rolls around, the farm is still producing.  Pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks, and hay bales are bountiful.  In addition to all of the wonderful produce, Higson's have their own sugar free applebutter made.  This can also be purchased all through the year.

Ronald and Tina Higson were the proud recipients of the 2010 Maryland Farm Bureau Service to Agriculture Award.  This was quite an honor for them.  This award recognizes individuals who strive to promote and improve agricultural practices.
